I personally find non sugar sweeteners to taste really nasty and they leave an even nastier aftertaste.

Why not just a less sweet tasting drink? Also, not having a choice to choose between a “half diet” drink and a regular drink just sucks.

It sucks because in one aspect, children shouldn’t be slurping down full sugar Hi-C’s all day every day, but why not just make a less sweet beverage instead of lowering the sugar content by replacing the sugar with funky tasting zero calorie sweeteners simply so it looks better on the nutrition label…. Man I miss me some regular Hi-C😔 Anyone know of other counties that have Hi-C? Maybe there’s a country that still produces regular Hi-C. We’ll still see more and more drinks being turned “half diet” as well as new products that are “half diet” or zero calorie being released all the time just like how it’s been. Imo, I don’t think it’ll happen soon like within the next 5 years, but I think inevitably something will give at some point. I don’t sense this practice slowing down anytime time soon, enjoy your favorite sugary drinks while you can because I wouldn’t be too surprised if the US starts to go in Europes direction with sugar content regulation in the future. I’ve noticed a lot of beverages that are popular with young people, like energy drinks and drinks in that similar category (beverages in tall cans that are usually advertising health benefits like energy, vitamins, electrolytes, cbd etc). I should add I tried the new capri suns and they’re truly atrocious, they got a funk to them that’s worse than your usual diet beverage which really just fully killed the drink for me (if anyone else has tried the new ones lmk, that munk fruit extract sweetener ain’t it) Hi-C, all pre-made kool-aid products like kool-aid jammers and Kool-aid Bursts etc and capri sun are all half diet now, capri sun made the change just in the past month or so, so if you want to have a normal capri sun for the last time, now is you’d last chance to find a full sugar regular one if you’re lucky. Try finding something like a capri sun or other kids drink that isn’t a 100% juice beverage that’s full sugar, you’ll have a hard time. In the US thankfully we don’t have any regulations forcing sugary beverages to be reformulated into “half diet” ones, but half diet beverages are pretty popular with people who are relatively heavy sweet drink drinkers, so companies in the US have been making some of their drink products half diet in the past few years with the growing trend around “healthy” zero/low cal drinks, especially for the childrens market. Nearly all, if not quite literally all in some counties, have switched all their sugary beverages to a “half diet” formulation besides a few who were willing to pay the sugar tax to legally sell a full sugar soda, so Coca Cola, Pepsi and in some counties affected original Mountain Dew are still normal. Whereas in Europe the EU and other countries in the region, soda producers there had to make all sugary beverages “half diet” because of the imposed regulations that make it hard to produce and sell soda or sugary beverages because of the high sugar content. The practice of making drinks “half diet” by significantly cutting the sugar content by replacing it with a diet/zero calorie sweetener is common practice in the soda/beverage industry these days and is becoming more and more common every day especially in the US. Soda companies don’t announce when they turn their sodas or drinks “half diet”, you’ll usually just see something on the label of the new formulation saying something along the lines of “now with half the sugar!”, it’s been happening to a lot of drinks especially in the US over the past couple years. I was actually just responding to a very similar post about someone wondering why their peace tea now contains Splenda, the post was deleted before I was able to post my response so I figure I might as well share what I wrote here as it pertains to your question. I have fond memories drinking this stuff at school and it truly hit the spot in a way no other drink did.

I noticed this as well while also noticing another similarly popular lemon flavored tea brand like Brisk (couldn’t remember the name but looked it up after posting and it was Fuze lemon tea), such a shame OG Lipton got turned into a “half diet” soda.
